Yeah! “Making It,” the third installation from Closettour’s webisode series, featuring designer Bibhu Mohapatra and his sample-maker Ari Magallanes, is nominated for a Webby Award!
I would be so obliged if you supported the video, and my team – the inimitable Julie Miller, Jason Beasley, and Mike Fiore – by registering to vote for our video in the People’s Voice Awards on the Webby site. I have only asked in the past, dear readers, that you read, watch, learn, and be entertained. But today, I’m asking a favor. Here’s how you can help:
- Go to the Webby People’s Voice Awards voting page and register to vote.
- They’ll email you a link, click on it to get into the Webby site.
- Then, once you’re signed in, THIS LINK should take you directly to our category, where you can then click to vote.
- If that doesn’t work, you can get to us by clicking on the “ONLINE FILM & VIDEO” category in the bar at the top, and clicking on REALITY. It’s easier than it sounds.
- Tell your friends! Yep, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, email, or even in person. You know how this works.
In case you missed the video the first time around, here it is again.
I made this video last summer to spotlight those working behind the scenes of fashion, making New York’s Garment District the diverse dream-factory that it is. A People’s Voice Award in the “Reality” category would bring even more attention to the importance of supporting our city’s skilled labor force in the fashion industry.
It’s one of five nominees, pitted against videos from outlets like Yahoo! and the Washington Post (whose link to their video is broken, btw), as well as a sort of interactive, next-gen version of MTV’s “The Real World,” and an online discussion in support of nuclear power. Check them out, and if you love “Making It” the most, please show your support by voting!
If you’d like to read more about the matters behind “Making It,” you might be interested in this post from the day it debuted, or this article I wrote for the Huffington Post on the topic. For the rest of the webisode series, see here. Thank you so much for helping me to make it happen!
